It is never too late to honor a Veteran now is it? America certainly loves to do it and there are been observances all across the country this Veterans Day. HBO would like to remind us that it has properly themed programming to honor the day, so seek out HBONow or HBOGo and honor those who served by catching a few of the titles listed below. HBO’s streaming sites are presenting the following: (those linked take you to our reviews).
In Documentary Format there is Alive Day Memories: Home from Iraq, Baghdad ER, Crisis Hotline: Veterans Press 1, The Battle for Marjah, The Strange History of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell and We Stand Alone Together: The Men of Easy Company and The Last Patrol.
And HBO Originals are the acclaimed HBO Miniseries: Band of Brothers and its companion piece The Pacific and HBO Films: Taking Chance.
They are all fine works and HBOWatch doesn’t want to influence anyone’s choices here. Besides any one of these works could mean something special for someone depending on life experiences. Most of them illustrate the hardships faced by veterans both overseas in various campaigns and the lingering effects when they return home. The concert, obviously, acknowledges and celebrates that fine service. The programming will take you to events in WWII’s Eastern and Western theatres, to Vietnam and to more recent Middle Eastern conflicts. Not only will you see battlefield action in this collection, but will also see soldiers in hospitals, at home and in body bags. It is some moving material.
.So take in a documentary or movie tonight or anytime on HBONow/HBOGo about those who serve. If you are lucky who can enjoy them alongside your favorite veteran.
