BALLERS and THE BRINK Release Videos

Ballers_TitlecardThe two new comedies joining TRUE DETECTIVE in June have released their first major footage. The exact details of the series BALLERS and THE BRINK have been vague, but now that they have been announced to appear on the schedule more details are surfacing. Now we have trailers to help define that much more.

First up is BALLERS starring Dwayne Johnson. This show is defined as ENTOURAGE meets professional sports figures. Instead of Hollywood, making movies, babes and agents we change it up to Miami, making plays, babes and agents. Man, those babes and agents get around, don’t they? The show follows former superstar Spencer Strasmore as he gets his life on track in retirement while mentoring other current and former players through the daily grind of the business of football.  So, let’s  pump up the music and the testosterone and check out that trailer.

As they say the theme seems to be “get rich, get laid and have fun.” Johnson and his posse (Turtle who?) are going to “Rock” the Miami scene. Are you pumped? Setting a totally different tone is THE BRINK. Tim Robbins and Jack Black give us a dose of political humor like VEEP, but on a big international scale. For this one we get a shorter Teaser, but it is better than nothing.

Holy shit, that looks fun. As Robbins says, “Congratulations, this plan is off to a great start.” You figured that out, right? Jack Black is out in the powderkeg called Pakistan to prevent World War III. In the mix are the Secretary oTheBrink_Titlecard-300x194f State and an ace fighter pilot. Tim Robbins is the D. C. official; Pablo Schreiber is the Navy flyboy and Aasif Mandvi is Black’s liaison.  Sure, that’s a perfect setup for comedy. At least this clip makes it look that way.

So what do you think? You like BALLERS or THE BRINK or why not both? They will be sandwiched between season two of TRUE DETECTIVE and LAST WEEK WITH JOHN OLIVER. Summer looks good at HBO.
