Announced by shows creator Michael Patrick King on Tuesday afternoon, the highly successful And Just Like That…’will be returning for a second season. Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content for HBO Max, said “We have been delighted by the cultural conversation generated by these characters and their stories, set in a world we already know and love so much. We are proud of the work Michael Patrick King and our wonderful writers, producers, cast and crew have done to bring these stories to the screen. We can’t wait for fans to see what’s in store for season 2!”

There is a lot of speculation currently about how they will handle the sad death of Willie Garson and whether or not they will be killing of Stanford Blatch in season 2. King has confirmed that they have no intention of writing out Blatch for season 2, so presumably we will be left in the knowledge that he is happily living his life in Japan. Speaking to Deadline, King said about Garson being in Japan indefinitely “Maybe. People change. People live in different places. It’s not something we’ve even discussed at this point because it’s so sad. We had 10 full, authentic, hilarious episodes for Stanford. Those just went away and there’s nothing really juicy about a real death, fictional death you can build around. Everybody knows Willie is gone, so there’s no real trick that we would try to pull to make that non-reality. We can’t bring Willie back so I don’t think we would even attempt to bring Stanford back because that’s a lot.” I imagine they will make reference to him, much like they have done for Samantha. Speaking of which, it looks like Kim Cattrall will also not be coming back as Samantha Jones. Cattrall who made the decision prior to reboot, has since busied herself with other projects.

There is very little else information at this point, but stay tuned to HBO Watch for all your And Just Like That… news!
