Back in the day there was stand-up on every week and we ate it up. Nowadays, we take it when we can get it and it is Amy Schumer’s turn to deliver. Here is news straight from an HBO Press Release that announces that the red hot comedienne will deliver her shtick to HBO soon.
AMY SCHUMER TO STAR IN HER FIRST HBO COMEDY SPECIAL, DIRECTED BY CHRIS ROCK
AND DEBUTING LATER THIS YEAR
Amy Schumer is set to headline her first HBO comedy special, it was announced by Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. The special, which debuts later this year, will tape at the Apollo Theater in New York on May 29 and will be directed by Chris Rock.
“Amy is one of the most inspired comics working today, and we hope her first HBO special marks the start of a long and beautiful relationship,” said Lombardo. “This event is even more special because our good friend, the incredibly talented Chris Rock, is directing.”
Amy Schumer is the creator, star, writer and executive producer of the Peabody Award-winning and Emmy-nominated series Inside Amy Schumer and this summer, she will be seen in the feature film Trainwreck, which she wrote and stars in. Her one-hour stand-up special, Mostly Sex Stuff, stands as the highest-rated Comedy Central original stand-up special since She joins a long list of stellar comedians who have starred in HBO stand-up specials including Louis C.K., Chris Rock, Tracy Morgan, Robin Williams, Ellen DeGeneres, George Carlin, Jamie Foxx, Jerry Seinfeld, George Lopez, Sarah Silverman, Bill Maher, Katt Williams, Wanda Sykes and Lewis Black and many more through the years.
We can bet it will be a hilarious set. Who knows what could develop from that? Maybe, a Schumer series or comedy movie for HBO is possible? Also, while you’re at it, how about returning Chris Rock to the network? Remember, THE CHRIS ROCK SHOW? More standup comedy from the likes of Amy Schumer can only be a good thing, don’t you agree?
