Today during Sony’s press conference at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), co-creator, writer, and executive producer Neil Druckmann announced that the seven-episode second season of HBO’s Emmy-winning drama original series THE LAST OF US will debut this April on HBO and will be available to stream on Max.
Season 2 logline: Five years after the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie are drawn into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.

Season 2 credits: THE LAST OF US, based on the acclaimed video game franchise developed by Naughty Dog for the PlayStation consoles, is written and executive produced by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. The series is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television and is also executive produced by Carolyn Strauss, Jacqueline Lesko, Cecil O’Connor, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, and Evan Wells; with writer/co-executive producer Halley Gross. Production companies: PlayStation Productions, Word Games, Mighty Mint, and Naughty Dog.
Now for that cool Teaser –
Those of us, like me, who have played the PlayStation games know how it is all ultimately going to play out, but are still as eager as the rest of you of how the series rolls out over a tight seven episodes. For us, reliving the experience in a new format is intriguing, but the embellishments the series will surely provide, as it did in Season One, will keep us just as glued to it as the viewers who are seeing the story for the first time. We are all lucky that HBO has been able to give us the THE LAST OF US story.
Now all we have to do is wait until April – Sunday, April 06 or 13, if I had to guess. That will give you enough time to re-watch Season One. THE LAST OF US – not to be missed.
