For those of you that haven’t noticed, Maisie Williams absolutely KILLED it this season as Arya Stark. The added scenes between her and Charles Dance were simply bone-chilling and it’s really impressive how she even managed to out-act him at times. Given the fact that she is was only 14 when Season Two was filmed (13 for Season One) and this is her very first acting role, it’s stunning to me just how talented this young girl is. In my opinion, her dominate portrayal of Arya Stark has proven that Maisie Williams is the best young actor on the show and deserves an Emmy nod!
HBO released it’s Emmy suggestions in April, and Maisie was on the list for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, but the odds are stacked against this bright young actress. The Emmy’s haven’t been kind to young actors in recent years, and Lena Headey’s performance in “Blackwater” probably puts her in front of all other cast members in this category. Although she hasn’t had a significant episode that some would deem “Emmy worthy”, I personally feel Maisie Williams deserves the nomination for her overall performance in Season Two. She has definitely earned it! Since the start of series Maisie has done an incredible job fine tuning the subtleties of acting. Her tone of voice, facial expressions, and the timing in which she delivers lines have completely sold every scene she has been in this season. Since I want to make this post short and sweet, here are a few snapshots from the series that I think really sell the point as to why Maisie deserves an Emmy nomination. While looking through them, notice how she is able to tell the story through facial expressions alone. It’s truly amazing!
Nominations will be announced on Thursday, July 19.
Congratulations on the Emmy suggestion Maisie! Check out HBO’s full list here. Even if you don’t get the nomination, you’re still my favorite Stark kid. Peace.

The most likely actress to get a nomination this year is Lena Headey, I’d imagine. She got the most to do in season 2, and she has the best submission episode in Blackwater. I’m not sure if Maisie has one episode where she really gets the chance to particularly shine, even though she’s always great.
You’re right, Lena is the most probable. I wrote this article because Maisie is my personal choice to get the nomination. I also agree that she hasn’t had a real breakthrough episode, except for maybe “Ghost of Harrenhal”. But Maisie’s total performance throughout Season Two has defintely been Emmy worthy.
I think she’s great, but Sophie Turner is equally captivating and talented. I’d go for either one getting a nom.
Can’t say I’d be disappointed with that result. Sophie was incredible last season too!
I think I’ll lose it if she gets up there and accepts an Emmy. ALMOST lost it when Peter Dinklage did it last year.
AGREED! I hope she gets the Emmy!!
