Olivia-WildeGrab your calendars because HBO’s 2016 Winter schedule has taken a slight shift. We all thought that Vinyl, Girls and Togetheness were going to premiere in January. Heck, even the official trailer said January at the end of it! But no more. For whatever reason, HBO has pushed back their traditional Winter block to mid February 2016. This is over a month later than we’d anticipated. For clarity here are the premiere dates in question:

Vinyl – Sunday, February 14th at 9PM

Girls – Sunday, February 21st at 10PM

Togetherness – Sunday, February 21st at 10:30PM

This not only pushes back Vinyl and the other two shows, it will probably push back Game of Thrones and HBO’s other 2016 shows. In the past, Game of Thrones has premiered in early April, late march and sometimes mid-April. But this time we expect Season 6 to premiere as late as May 2016.  Depressing, we know. But hopefully all of the shows will benefit from some extra polish.

I think a lot of HBO subscribers are tapping their feet waiting for that next big major HBO drama to hit. Boardwalk and True Blood are gone. The Newsroom is gone. There are some holes in the HBO schedule that we think will be filled in 2016 assuming Westworld, True Detective Season 3 and a mystery project is fast tracked.

We’ll keep our eyes on the schedule and let you know about any potential updates to the Game of Thrones timeline. Bookmark our HBO schedule if you want the latest.

You all treating The Leftovers like it’s nothing, while is by far the best drama that HBO has aired in 2015.

By the way, I don’t really expect anything other than Westworld to air in 2016 of the three you mentioned. Both True Detective and the new Simon series (The Deuce) won’t air until 2017.

I love The Leftovers. But the ratings sort of put a damper on the series from an industry perspective.

I was pretty distressed to hear that Game of Thrones will be pushed back to what looks like the end of April!!!! Bahh!!! But the good news is that Vinyl is looking like a pretty awesome series.

Well, from january 3 until february 7 we have a gap of 6 weeks, maybe HBO could to fill that space with a six part limited series (Steve McQueen‘s Codes of Conduct) and a s01 of Vice Pricipals. Remembering that Eastbound and Down s01 had six episodes.

Any chance ?

Yes codes of conduct could fill in gap; filming is completed and the 8 hour limited series Crime should be ready to air

That would male some sense!

I heard that with the new time frame GOT will have one episode missing within the Emmy deadline. Will be interesting what they’ll do with that.. 2h premiere?
