Twilight Star Calls Out HBO’s True Blood

twilight-true-blood-325It seems like only yesterday Irish author Bram Stoker glamoured audiences with his portrayal of a debonair vampire seducing a young, beautiful woman in his famous tome, Dracula… or maybe that was in 1897, we aren’t sure.   Neither is Robert Pattinson so it would seem;  the young vampiric star of the teen-paranormal-romance-mega-hit, ‘Twilight’ dismisses vampire-themed TV shows such as True Blood and “The Vampire Diaries” as copycats.

“It’s like that Coke versus Pepsi thing, and how Coke just said ‘There’s a reason everyone compares themselves to us,’” he said, according to Hollywood Life. “‘Twilight’ was the original and everybody’s trying to copy it. They’re all just trying to jump aboard the ‘Twilight’ train.”

Unfortunately for Mr. Pattinson, the “Dracula Train” left the station over 100 years ago and Twilight is just one of the many passengers along for the ride.  So the question now becomes: “Who does Vampires best?”  You know where we stand but what do you think?  Leave us a comment below.

We’re not sure if Robert has actually seen True Blood or even has a subscription to HBO but we’d reccomend the young actor start from the beginning!  Or heck, why not start from 1997 and stream the entire Buffy the Vampire series on Netflix to brush up on a little bit of pre-Twilight vampire history.   In other news, Harry Potter fans were outraged to learn that the Lord of the Rings trilogy was hopping on the Hogwarts bandwagon!  No fair!

Don’t read anything from Hollywood life, it’s all pure dog shit. But if this is true, the twilight books came out in 2005, true blood books came out in 2001, Buffy the vampire slayer came out in 1997 and the vampire diaries: awakining came out in 1991. So NO they didn’t copy twilight, twilight obviously copied these lesser popular books. P.s. I mentioned what year for Buffy the vampire slayer because people keep saying the vampire diaries copied it.

I do like the love story behind the Twilight series. But Buffy, Angel, True Blood and The Vampire Diaries take the cake for best vampire TV series in my opinion…

Twilight isn’t a vampire series. Those sparkly things are fairies.

I agree 100% with Ryan, who in their right mind makes a sparkling vampire, ridiculous movie, True Blood is 100 times better than Twilight. FUCK TWILIGHT!

I would have to concur that neither work “True BllooD” or “Twilight” are sterling contributions to cinema, but TB edges out for me as more gripping and more adult. Actually, I am tired of the whole vampire rage going on. Time to give it a rest untill another work comes along a decade from now to reboot the theme yet again.

The first Twilight film came out in November of 2008 . True Blood season 1 came out in September of 2008. How can True Blood be considered a copycat if it came out first? Even if we’re talking about original concepts, Twilight’s first novel came out in 2005, while the first Southern Vampire Mysteries book came out in 2001. So technically, Twilight is copying the Southern Vampire series, by Robert’s standards.

Vampire stories have been popular for ages. The True Blood/Twilight franchises just injected some more life into the genre.

Quality-wise, True Blood is better than Twilight, but I don’t consider either series quality entertainment. Six Feet Under, The Wire, The Sopranos, Game of Thrones—those are quality series.

Twilight is the best but so is True blood. True blood is nothing like Twilight! Alexander skarsgard is the best vampire but also robert pattinson is too!
