Game of Thrones is celebrating it’s upcoming season with the chance for a lucky few to see the premiere of Season Five a month early in the fitting location of the Tower of London.  HBO created a great deal of excitement when it made the unprecedented move to release several Game of Thrones episodes in IMAX last month, but if that wasn’t sensational enough, it has now been announced that the premiere of Season Five will be shown at the famed Tower of London. The location is a brilliant choice to show “Game of Thrones,” because not only is it a castle, but it has a long history of bloody intrigue. Additionally, the Tower of London is now a prime tourist location, home to the Crown Jewels, former prison cells and torture chambers, as well as seven ravens…though none with three eyes. In upcoming weeks, a contest will be held  by the distributor Sky Atlantic in which a mere twenty-five tickets to the event will be given. Lucky fans will receive the chance not only to see the first episode of the new season an entire month before the rest of the world while enjoying the ambiance of a location filled with history, but also to meet actors from Game of Thrones and other celebrities.

While a few will attend the premier in the London Tower, on March 18, the rest of the world will have to wait until April 12 for the first episode. Will spoilers be dispersed? Footage leaked? One imagines that the secrets of the premiere will be tightly contained, but we will have to see.

I hope that HBO does this again, at another well known landmark, for 2016 and 2017’s Game of Thrones season premieres. May as well go out with style!
