This Just In: HBO Options Nesbø’s HEADHUNTERS

By Jef Dinsmore on Nov 6, 2013 to HBO News

HBO is putting into development a project based on the best-selling 2008 novel called HEADHUNTERS. The work by Norwegian fiction author Jo Nesbø is  about a corporate headhunter who becomes the hunted when his life and marriage are suddenly targeted by an unknown individual, making for an intense thriller.

Alexander Woo, a current executive producer for TRUE BLOOD, will be the main writer for the adaptation and will executive produce HEADHUNTERS along HBO producer Carolyn Strauss. The work is said to take shape as an hour long program. Woo is also incidentally penning THE IMMORTAL LIFE OF HENRIETTA LACKS for HBO as well.

Nesbø’s tome was already made into a film in his home country of Norway in 2011 Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jamie Lannister in GAME OF THRONES) had a key role. The work was quickly snatched up in America when English rights were sold and was going to be a movie. It is now set for a series instead with Lionsgate as the U. S. production company behind the project. HBOWatch will keep a track of any progress.
