Miss Lena Dunham just might have more to offer HBO if they option what she is going to write next. The multi-hyphenate of GIRLS, along with show runner and executive producer Jenni Konner (pictured at right) plan to write another potential series based on the life of one Betty Halbreich.
Who, you ask? Why you know Betty, she’s the ultimate personal shopper for Bergdorf Goodman. Anyone who is rich and famous in New York goes through her apparently. She has been the dresser and confidante of three generations of Manhattan socialites and stars including Joan Rivers, Meryl Streep, Sarah Jessica Parker, Katie Couric and Glenn Close. Additionally, she works with top Manhattan stylists and has consulted for movies and TV shows, including helping design the signature look for HBO’s SEX AND THE CITY.
The pay cable network has optioned All Dressed Up And Everywhere To Go, the soon to be released memoir of 85 year old Halbreich who is still at the core of high fashion in the Big Apple. No real structure or timeline has been released but the writing team is formulating it to be another comedy series for the premium channel and making it yet another development deal for HBOWatch to keep a track of as it moves forward.
