Fans are probably still reeling from tonight’s episode of Game of Thrones but HBO also gave the faithful an equally epic trailer for the new season of The Newsroom.  HBO is known for it’s amazing trailers but we haven’t seen something quite like this in some time.  The cast of The Newsroom are in the desert and.. well just take a look for yourself:

Crazy stuff. Not sure what to make of it but we’re just glad that The Newsroom will premiere soon!

What did you think of this rather unusual tease for Aaron Sorkin’s HBO series? Leave a comment below with your thoughts, hopes and dreams for this team.

Effective trailer for me in that the symbolism announces the “landscape/climate” of the coming season. While I’m not sure how much new information can be gleaned about the direction of the characters the trailer does a great job for reminding us where we left the characters at the end of season 1.

I find it interesting/curious that they used a bleach bypass look while in the surroundings of a dessert to push forward a cool, blue look. Seems counterintuitive on any account I can think of as to why make that style choice.

It’s obviously a dream sequence, but is is a portent of what lies ahead, or just a teaser to make fans like me anxious for July 14th to arrive. I notice other comments that there is symbolism in the choice of the desert, but I’ll leave that all for the critics and the fans that see more than just entertainment in the show. I’ll watch it with much interest, but I’ll leave Fox News and Rush Limbaugh to cause my ire. Please note that I, like Will, am also an ex-conservative who voted for President Obama last year because I felt my party was stolen from me by the ultra right.

Reminds me of the Six Feet Under trailers and their symbolism.

My take on this trailer is this – Will McAvoy sees the world around him as a vast wasteland and he and his ACN team must stand together in order to get us to understand it all.

His team, however, is not entirely focused on the task at hand for they have their own interests. Will seems to have one also but she keeps eluding him. But they are diligent in the end to stand together and make sense of the vast wasteland for us.
