Nearly 30 years later, Pee-Wee Herman is bringing his show back to where it all started, on HBO.  The comedian got his start as part of HBO’s Young Comedians series long before his hit show, Pee-Wee’s Playhouse on CBS.

Paul Reubens (Pee-Wee’s alter ego) told USA Today in a recent interview:“If anyone would have told me I’d be doing this 30 years later, I would have laughed,” he says. “But now, you know, now I plan on doing it 30 years from now when I’m 140.” And as far as the special?  “There’s a love story, and I have a wish to fly in the show, and that’s pretty much the plot. The New York Times said it was thin on plot. And they were right. But, you know, plot’s not all it’s cracked up to be.

Filming has now wrapped on “The Pee-Wee Herman Show on Broadway” which has been successfully running on Broadway for two months.  The show will air on HBO on March 19th.  Until then, check out this teaser trailer!
