Actress Patricia Clarkson, who played the recurring role of Ruth Fisher’s sister on SIX FEET UNDER, may return to HBO with ELISABETH. It is a listed as an hour long romantic drama that is now in development for the network. HBO does not have such a drama in its schedule so perhaps this concept could make it onto the channel. Clarkson will star presumably as the title character that lives in the world of international politics and what, tries to find time for love? Clarkson will also serve as executive producer.
According to Deadline, assisting Clarkson as members of production, , are Canadian filmmaker Ruba Nadda and also Alan Poul. Nadda is writing the script and directing the potential pilot. Clarkson had worked with Nadda before including Best Canadian Film Cairo Time. Mr. Poul is no stranger to HBO having helmed episodes of SIX FEET UNDER, ROME, BIG LOVE and lately THE NEWSROOM.
We didn’t bury this one in a “Development Slate’ piece because an hour-long romantic piece hasn’t appeared on HBO so this one with a top-notch actress just might stick. We will wait and see. Do you like the notion of ELISABETH? Is there a place for it on HBO? Share your thoughts below.
