Silicon Valley Season Finale Review

Silicon Valley Season Finale Review

You’ll have to excuse this review of the first season finale of Silicon Valley as I was still reeling from what happened in the latest episode of Game of Thrones that aired moments prior to this show. Yeesh. Richard and his team have been boosted into the finals after a small misunderstanding with one of the now former judges; he assaulted Erlich for sleeping with his wife, again. I should clarify, Erlich slept with the judge’s first wife, then in trying to ascertain whether or not the judge knew about that happening, slept with the second wife. That man knows a secret because if his facial hair is any indicator, he...

McConaughey Open to Returning for Season 2

McConaughey Open to Returning for Season 2

Never say never. That seems like a rule that True Detective Rust Cohle might live by, right? Well Matthew McConaughey, the actor who masterfully brought that character to life on HBO’s air this year may be having second thoughts. We’ve reported several times that True Detective was, and always has been planned as an anthology series much like American Horror Story where new characters, settings and stories take over each year. So it stood to reason, and was also confirmed several times by show runners and the actors themselves, that McConaughey and Harrelson wouldn’t return for True Detective season 2. That having been...

Here’s a taste of Jonah: The new show will debut on HBO August 8th at 9PM (a Friday night) with a dual episode. Subsequent Fridays will feature a single episode. The series, like Ja’mie, will run SIX episodes of thirty minutes a piece. Thanks for keeping us laughing, Chris! Can’t wait for this...

Several British Actors Join JK Rowling’s ‘The Casual Vacancy’ Project

HBO and BBC have teamed up once again to bring you what is hoped to be another wonderful book-to-screen adaptation. This time they’re looking to bring JK Rowling’s non-Harry Potter, adult novel, The Casual Vacancy to life. We’ve known about this project for some time not but this week the cast was finally revealed and will feature a host of British (naturally) actors including Michael Gambon (better known to Americans as “The New Dumbledore”), Keeley Hawes, Rory Kinnear, Monica Dolan, Julia McKenzie and newcomer Abigail Lawrie Gambon (“The Singing Detective,” “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”...

Game of Thrones Supplants The Sopranos as HBO’s Most Watched Series Ever

Game of Thrones Supplants The Sopranos as HBO’s Most Watched Series Ever

It was only a matter of time. Each season HBO’s Game of Thrones took on more and more viewers. The trend lines looked unstoppable and unbelievable, frankly. But today,as its fourth season winds down Game of Thrones has officially supplanted The Sopranos as HBO’s most watched series of all time.  We took a look at the overall stats a while back but here are the numbers if you’re interested: Note that the “total audience” numbers are different from those represented above when including encore showings, HBO Go watchers, etc. The advent of HBOGo may be one of the reasons The Sopranos has been usurped, in fact....

THE NEWSROOM Casting For Final Season

THE NEWSROOM Casting For Final Season

There is very little to report right now on the third and final season of THE NEWSROOM. All we have to share is a new character to the series and who personifies that role. Keith Powell, who you might recognize from 30 Rock, is making his presence known in the ACN bullpen. He will play Wyatt Geary, the new Human Resources Vice President at news station.  Nothing else to report but it is good to know that the third and final season of the newsroom is in production and on the way! That is all we got. HBOWatch just thought it was time to bring THE NEWSROOM to the forefront as we anticipate its return later this year. Oh, and we also found this...

Boardwalk Empire Casting For Final Season 5

Boardwalk Empire Casting For Final Season 5

News should be starting up soon for Season Five, the final season, of BOARDWALK EMPIRE and HBOWatch will try to catch it. Here is a bit of casting we noted. A young actor by the name of Travis Trope (right) will be playing the role of Slim a kid who comes into town to work for the unsavory bloke Mickey Doyle. Just what significance this lad has with the gangster crown is unclear, but it can’t be good. Think about it for a second. Slim, is going to see or hear something he shouldn’t. It will get him in danger, only to be rescued by a main player OR what he knows will aid in bringing down a big player, possibly Mickey Doyle (Paul Sparks)....

Well you  may be interested in knowing that the Emmy nominated comedy is about to  wrap up its third season this SUNDAY, 06.08 (10:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT) by debuting two episodes back-to-back. In the two episodes, Selina (Emmy winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus) and her staff discuss how to make her more “folksy,” and juggle her multiple official obligations and campaign appearances in the days before the New Hampshire primary. How exciting is that VEEP fans! Does Selina have a chance here? We won’t know unless we get a Season 4, which has been confirmed, so break out the...

John Oliver and Net Neutrality

John Oliver and Net Neutrality

You know, I was going to wind down talking about LAST WEEK TONIGHT WITH JOHN OLIVER because he has twenty-four installment in his premiere season and it was going to be too difficult to generate something every week. The intent was just to give you a heads up about the series for the first few episodes until those interested caught on. Well now I can’t let this week go by without addressing the whole net neutrality issue that came up. I’m sure you’ve seen it by now. First off, as he has already done once or twice, he dared his audience, in the episode of 06.01, to get involved in the issue of the night – net neutrality. Here is...

Darren Aronofsky Adapting Margaret Atwood’s Dystopian Sci-Fi Trilogy for HBO

Darren Aronofsky Adapting Margaret Atwood’s Dystopian Sci-Fi Trilogy for HBO

Aronofsky is known for his dark portraits. You’ve probably seen his latest works, Noah and Black Swan. But real Aronofsky fans remember movies like Pi and Requiem for a Dream. Over the past year we reported on Darren’s ongoing dealings with HBO but nothing solid had yet surfaced. Today it was revealed that HBO has moved a series into development attached to the Oscar-nominated director. The project, based on Margaret Atwood’s novel trilogy Oryx and Crake (2003), Year Of The Flood (2009), and MaddAddam (2013) is set in the mid-21st century in a world where corporations have taken over for governments and the genetic...

THE 2014 ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME Concert Review

The 29th annual induction ceremony took place 04.10 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, marking the first time the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony has been held in Brooklyn. The HBO special features some of the biggest names in music in celebratory reunions, rousing tributes and heartfelt speeches from both presenters and inductees and HBOWatch watched the “edited” event. (All bios come from the Hall of Fame website.)   We start with a reminder of the Inductees: In the Performer Category we start with Peter Gabriel who was inducted by Chris Martin of the group Coldplay.  Bio: Peter Gabriel’s influence is so widespread we...
