The thing you need to understand about Richard B. Riddick is that the man is a survivor. He has stealth, strength and eyes that can see in the dark. You wouldn’t want him as your...

CARNIVALE Comes to HBOGO!

CARNIVALE Comes to HBOGO!

UPDATE:  It appears that the episode will be available on March 27th!  Here’s the proof: As I was doing my routine digging around for HBO information to pass on to you I stumbled upon the following: CARNIVALE, the 2003-2005 dramatic series, is coming to HBO’s streaming service soon. My facts come from HBO itself which states that “Coming Soon” to HBOGO are all twenty-four episodes of the craftily created dark fantasy series from creator Daniel Knauf. This show is so rich with its mythology and religious themes, its historical settings and its freak show weirdness that it is hard to describe. It is more than just a battle of...

We Attend Paleyfest 2013 with Piers Morgan & Cast of The Newsroom

We Attend Paleyfest 2013 with Piers Morgan & Cast of The Newsroom

The 30th anniversary of the Paleyfest held by the Paley Center for Media in Los Angeles kicked off Friday, March 1st. Paleyfest is an annual event held for two weeks, and it brings a lot of the actors and producers of some of television’s biggest shows to a live audience. The audience usually get treated with new, yet to be seen episodes or clips, and a live interaction with their favorite stars. I had the honor of attending three of the shows at Paleyfest; Walking Dead, Arrow and The Newsroom. I have been to past Paleyfest events and have become very fond of this organization. I have come to the conclusion that The Newsroom panel was...

Development Slate: THE LEFTOVERS and More in the Making

Development Slate: THE LEFTOVERS and More in the Making

There has been plenty of wheeling and dealing at HBO. There is, of course, no guarantee that anything reported here makes it to the channel but HBOWatch will keep a track of all of it and let you know what is in HBO’s future.  HBO gets THE LEFTOVERS  HBO has now ordered a pilot to be shot of the 2011 novel written by Tom Perrotta entitled THE LEFTOVERS. He teams with Damon Lindelof as we reported back in  06.30.12.  If HBO likes what they see in the pilot about the leftovers of society after the biblical Rapture occurs, then this work can go to series yet this year and possibly make it to HBO as early as mid-2014. Since we can’t...

Aaron Sorkin Talks THE NEWSROOM Season 2 at PaleyFest

Aaron Sorkin Talks THE NEWSROOM Season 2 at PaleyFest

The Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, CA hosts big events from time to time and recently at such an event Aaron Sorkin sat in on a panel and talked about his HBO venture THE NEWSROOM. The creator and executive producer had a few insights into how Season 2 will be structured and only one plot point was disclosed. First, is that little tidbit about plot; the only one evidently offered during this panel. It was alluded that the characters of Don Keefer, who is the former News Night  producer, and Sloan Sabbith, the economist on staff, become an item in the second season. They are played by Thomas Sadoski and Olivia Munn,...

VICE: HBO Documentary Series Focuses on Rodman, North Korea & “Basketball Diplomacy”

Two words you wouldn’t think to use in the same paragraph  Dennis Rodman and North Korea.  The story has been all over the news this week and HBO, as usual, has the inside scoop.  In their new documentary series VICE we’ll get to see what really happened in North Korea as HBO’s cameras were turned on for the event.  We can confirm that this will not be the first episode when the show premieres April 5th it will still be fresh when it airs later this spring.   This show should slide in nicely to the schedule right after Bill Maher’s weekly Friday night program. Here’s the official press release from HBO...

Who is this Red Woman?

Who is this Red Woman?

We first met Melisandre in Season 2, in the company of Stannis Baratheon, the “rightful King.” She is a Red Priestess of the Lord of Light. The Lord of Light is a deity that has not spread deep into Westeros. Melisandre, who hails from a county called Asshai in far east Essos, came to Dragonstone to preach this faith to an area that had heard little of this religion. She manages to convert Stannis, as well as most of his household, to her religion. First impression of her conjures thoughts of Roman Catholics attempting to convert Pagans. She is mysterious and new. She seems to possess magical powers unseen in this part of the Realm. She...

HBO FILMS: Behind the Candelabra Premiere Date & Teaser

Behind the Candelabra should catch your attention at the mention of the main characters: Michael Douglas as Liberace and Matt Damon as Scott Thorson.  But the new HBO film also has a well known helmsmen: Stephen Soderbergh.  Tonight HBO released the first teaser trailer for the new TV movie that also reveals the premiere date of May 26th. We were hoping to see some footage from the actual show but I suppose this will have to do for now.  Expect to see more at the big Game of Thrones premiere on March 31.  We’ve updated our HBO series schedule with this new air date. Big things are happening on HBO this...

Extended Game of Thrones Season 3 Trailer HAS ARRIVED!

Last week HBO finally let slip the first real trailer for the new season of Game of Thrones.  So hungry were fans for that sweet, sweet nectar that is the world of Westeros that some even spent the time to dissect the thing frame by frame.  But what if I told you there were more coming? UPDATE: The extended trailer has arrived! Not as much extra footage as we previously thought, but still epic nonetheless. Analysis of the new scenes will be coming soon. Here at HBO Watch we spend a lot of time digging through HBO’s scheduling documents to try and nail down premiere dates and start times for your favorite shows.  But we almost fell...

VEEP Season 2: Invitation to the Set

HBO’s political comedy VEEP has a new Invitation to the Set feature which showed up yesterday on the networks YouTube channel. Game of Thrones S3 Character Posters Released

Game of Thrones S3 Character Posters Released

HBO released a set of 12 character posters for the upcoming third season of Game of Thrones today. The set contains mostly a mix of Starks and Lannisters, with a few others thrown in, but they’re all pretty awesome.  I can’t wait for March 31. Bring on Season Three! I REALLY like these posters! I know plenty of fans are probably disappointed that there isn’t a great mix of characters, and surely a lot of your favorites didn’t make it in here....

Brian Geraghty recurring on BOARDWALK EMPIRE Season 4

Brian Geraghty recurring on BOARDWALK EMPIRE Season 4

Another cast member has been added to the fourth season of BOARDWALK EMPIRE. Brian Geragthy, will play a character named Loren Knox. He is described as a prohibition agent with ulterior motives in his newly assigned post in Atlantic City. By that scant bit of info it makes you wonder if this agent is on the up and up. Will he get tangled up in business he shouldn’t have? We will have to wait until Fall to find out. Mr. Geraghty was in the Oscar winning The Hurt Locker as Specialist Owen Eldridge and had the recurring role of Brian Eller, the hostage taker in Season Five of TRUE BLOOD. This comes on the heels of two other casting...

Parade’s End Review: Part Three

Parade’s End Review: Part Three

HBO’s adaptation of Ford Madox Ford’s PARADE’S END concluded tonight with a beautifully rousing episode that questioned what does one need to be happy.  The episode opened with Christopher Tietjens being sent to the front in punishment for pushing another officer, for entering his wife’s bedroom in the middle of the night. Christopher soon learns that being 2nd in command of the 6th Battalion isn’t what it seems.  The Captain is mentally incapacitated. The Battalion ignores his craziness to protect their own skin.  Christopher takes control of the Battalion and with men under his care; we catch a glimpse of the man underneath...

What’s On: HBO Schedule for March 2013

What’s On: HBO Schedule for March 2013

Well, February went fast didn’t it? Well, it does have fewer days than the rest of the months but, I’m sure for GAME OF THRONES fans (and those tired of winter) it didn’t go by fast enough. Now, you just have to wait through this coming month before seeing your favorite show once again. Know that, while you wait for 03.31, there is other fare on HBO to while away the time. Of course, this post will point out those choices. So, let’s look at March 2013. March has five Saturdays so that is five movies new to the channel airing in primetime. Now, I’m curious as to just how many people actually watch movies on HBO. Since there...

Parade’s End Review: Part Two

Parade’s End Review: Part Two

HBO’s adaptation of Ford Madox Ford’s gripping series continues with a looming sense of catastrophe. The damaged horse, the broken mirror, the stalking Fish Eagle, the death of Christopher’s mother, the butchered painting – everything in this episode seems to symbolize the coming destruction. The escalating European conflict, however, is not the focus of our attention. Rather, we dive deeper into the psyche of our protagonist, Christopher Tietjens, and his siren wife, Sylvia. And, of course, Christopher’s infatuation with the lovely Valentine. Upon hearing news of his mother’s death, Christopher and...
