Is premium television getting the Oprah treatment or is Oprah getting the HBO treatment? We’ll let you decide but the Hollywood Reporter is confirming that Oprah’s Harpo Films is working on a new drama for air on HBO proper.
Described as “centering on the first black president of a prestigious liberal arts college who has been thrust into the national headlines while also engaging in “agonizing personal battles” and “dark obsessions” away from the public eye” we’re eager to see what Oprah can do on HBO’s immaculate stage.
The project remains untitled and other than the fact that it is described as a “one hour family drama” we unfortunately have nothing more to give you on this one. We’ll keep you informed with the details and possible premiere info but as this project is in the early stages we’re not expecting to see it on your HD screen until 2014.
