Based on Elizabeth Strout’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name, OLIVE KITTERIDGE tells the poignantly sweet, acerbically funny and devastatingly tragic story of a seemingly placid New England town wrought with illicit affairs, crime and tragedy, told through the lens of a woman whose wicked wit and harsh demeanor mask a warm but troubled heart and a staunch moral center. The supporting cast includes Bill Murray, John Gallagher, Jr., Peter Mullan, Rosemarie DeWitt and Zoe Kazan. Executive produced by Tom Hanks and Frances McDormand.
Sound interesting? We’ve been eyeing this miniseries for almost a year now. The mini has been filmed and will premiere on HBO’s air on a Sunday, November 2nd at 9PM. The second half of the mini-series will premiere on Monday, November 3rd, also at 9PM. This is similar to how Parade’s End and Mildred Pierce made their respective debuts on HBO. We can confirm that each night Olive Kitteridge will run two hours making the mini-series a 4 hour commitment.
Thus far HBO has only released the above official image but we did stumble upon some clips that appear to be legit. They aren’t on HBO’s YouTube channel but if we had to guess we’d say these are the clips to be used in promotion of the mini-series as the actors make the talk-show rounds.
The comedic timing and quirky characters make Olive Kitteridge one to watch out for this fall. The acting is sure to be fabulous given the pedigree of the cast and we know HBO will spare no expense on the production.
Mark your calendars for November 2nd and 3rd, 2014.
