GeorgeRRMartin-300x198USA Today has named George R.R. Martin it’s ‘Author of the Year’ for 2011.  The article gives much of the credit for his sucess to the hit HBO show Game of Thrones saying: “Thanks to HBO’s hit adaptation, Martin ascended from best-selling cult writer (especially popular with young men) to king of the book world.

Whether you started reading the novels because of the HBO series or you started watching the series because of the novels HBO and Mr. Martin must be blown away by the number of people wanting to explore Westeros these days.

This honor comes on the heels of Entertainment Weekly’s dubbing the author ‘Entertainer of the Year.’

With Game of Thrones set to return to HBO for a second season in April, we say… long may he reign.
