In an interview with IFTN, actress Jane McGrath revealed that she has a role in the upcoming fourth season of Game of Thrones. She has confirmed that she will be playing a wildling.
McGrath will be appearing in the upcoming Irish film Black Ice. She has also starred in The Clinic, Quirke, and Silent Witness. Here’s an extract from the interview:
Do you have any other upcoming roles you can tell us about?
At the moment, I’m up and down to Belfast on ‘Game of Thrones’. I’m not even allowed to talk to my friends about it and can’t be giving anything away! My character is beyond the Wall and it was stunning. When you’re on set you feel like you’re actually there. It’s incredible! Are you a Wildling?
Yes, I’m a Wildling!
Author’s Note: Although we have no concrete information as to who Ms. McGrath will be playing, my money is on Val or Dalla, or an amalgamation of both. It’s quite funny how McGrath delivered the news of her role, stating that she’s sworn to secrecy and then spilling everything except her character’s name!
Game of Thrones Season 4 will premiere in spring of 2014. We’ll provide an exact air date here when we have it.

lesbian scenes would also be nice
hope she gets her boobs out
alys karstark
well we do kind of need both Val and Dalla as in the books, Dalla dies in childbirth and Val, as Dallas sister, takes care of the baby for a while
Val fo sho
My vote is that she is some hybrid of Val and Dalla.
speculation is she could also be playing one of Crastor’s wives left with the mutineers.
Isn’t she a bit too “pretty” for that?
And I don’t remember a leftover Craster’s wife in the books, not that that really means anything with GoT these days… -_-
I don’t think she’s really pretty enough to be Val, but with HBO, it doesn’t matter what the character is ‘supposed’ to look like. ;)
I’d say Val, but you’re right, Cian, I wouldn’t be surprised if Weiss and Benioff combined both Val and Dalla with this character.
Dal? Valla? Valhalla? To be honest it doesn’t really matter if Dalla and Val are combined, but the wildlings do need to be given a bit more culture next season.
Valla/Dal/Valdalla…. Shouldn’t she be blonde? I thought her being blonde was an issue. I know they can use a wig, but…. Also: if she is Valla/Dal/Valdalla, we must use all 3 names when talking of her.
Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys, is a brunette. Hair colour isn’t an issue.
Lena Headey, who plays Cersei, is also brunette.
