joel-fry_612x380__1380315943_109.78.43.32James Hibberd of EW has revealed that English actor Joel Fry has been cast as Hizdahr zo Loraq in Game of Thrones.

Giving away too much information about the character of Hizdahr would enter spoiler territory, but according to EW;

Hizdahr is described as the “young scion of an ancient Meereenese family who crosses paths with Daenerys Targaryen.”

Mr. Fry may not be well known to a lot of people, but he has starred in 10,000 B.C., as well as popular British show The Bill.

Author’s Note: I cannot comment at length on this casting, as I have never seen Joel Fry in action. Despite being a bit younger than I expected, he certainly looks the part. It’s great to finally have some concrete information on a new character in Dany’s storyline. Hopefully the producers can keep it interesting, as it has the potential to be quite tedious.

Game of Thrones Season 4 will premiere in spring of 2014.  We’ll provide an exact air date here when we have it.

Having just finished book 5, the character of Hizdahr zo Loraq is very fresh in my mind, but I did not think we would see this character in season 4. I assume this means that they may be moving along a little faster on Daenerys’ story line. Probably a good thing.
