michael-lombardo-tca-2015-300x201The Summer Television Critics Association (TCA) event had HBO in the house and a number of announcements have dropped regarding the network. President of Programming Michael Lombardo held the stage and offered up the following:

David Chase, creator of THE SOPRANOS, has had a project in mind for more than a few years now. It is entitled A RIBBON OF DREAMS and is about the early Hollywood film industry.  It was a project HBO and Chase entertained a couple of years after THE SOPRANOS concluded in 2007. Lombardo stated

“I’ve seen pages. He showed us two hours worth of material, and I trust I’ll see more by the end of the year. I think he has something really unbelievable, but we have to figure out if it is a limited series or an open-ended series. “I think it’s really challenging to come back to People_DavidChase02-296x300television after a show like The Sopranos … but I fully expect we’ll be back up here during my tenure with David Chase and a new show.”

The only buzz we ever heard was regarding a potential Sopranos family prequel. Remember that idea? Now we have a different concept altogether. And frankly, I don’t care what the concept is, just get David Chase back where he belongs – on HBO.

Another David was mentioned and that was Larry David who raised some attention on Broadway lately with Fish In the Dark. But we’d be happy with some CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM in the near future. Is Season 9 happening? On the matter Lombardo recalled a meeting he had with David before the premiere of the play.

“At that meeting, David pulled out a notebook. “Do you know what this is?” he asked. “This is People_LarryDavid-300x168the ‘next season’ notebook. There have been no discussions since, but I don’t think it’s out of his system. When he has something to say, he will come back. I certainly see this as a continuing dialogue with him – a long one, but a continuing one.”

Do you want to see David Chase and Larry David back on HBO? We eagerly await the news around here.
