It’s finally here! The first teaser of the new season of Game of Thrones! HBO is continuing it’s Jon Snow centered marketing campaign for Season Six. After dropping the first promotional photo for the new season which featured a bloody Jon Snow, a few weeks ago, HBO has continued the theme in their first teaser trailer of the season. See below for the video itself and a little commentary to follow.

The teaser begins with the character who is one everyone’s minds these days as the debate rages over whether he is alive or dead. Jon Snow stands, his hair blowing in the wind as the voice of an old man who many believe to be Three Eyed Raven plays over him. “We watch,” the man’s voice intones, “We listen. And we remember. The past is already written. The ink is drying.” The teaser than cuts away from the stoic faced Snow to remind viewers of the violent past of previous episodes. Only Game of Thrones fans would get excited by seeing a montage of the deaths, mutilations, and violations of their favorite characters, but HBO seems to know we’re addicted to seeing the best and brightest of Westeros fall and fail again and they focus heavily on the tragedies of previous seasons in this teaser, re-using iconic footage from Jon Snow’s assassination, the Red Wedding, Ned Stark’s execution, Arya’s blinding, the Battle of Hardhome, and many other memorable scenes. Finally, we hear a new, calm voice over the carnage. The voice of a young man. Bran perhaps. “They have no idea what’s going to happen.” The voice might just as well be speaking of the audience as of the unsuspecting inhabitants of Westeros,  and while it’s true, we don’t know what to expect in this new season, as season that surpasses the A Song of Ice and Fire series and leaves us all in the dark, we know one thing for certain. We can’t wait.

What are your thoughts on the teaser? Comment below!

Melisandre rode into the Black Keep just before Snow was killed. Betting she brings him back to live.

What if Bran posses Jon Snow’s body right be fore he died. So Jon Snow really is dead but now Bran Stark has his body to avenge the deaths of the rest of his family.

I am intrigued by “the ink is drying” as Jon Snow’s blood is flowing from his body. XD

Of course, we get a montage of all previous footage – but it’s what Bran sees and it compelled to say that grips us the most. We haven’t seen Bran for an entire season; I’m interested to see how his character will develop and what his story line will end up looking like. As for all his family members and what is to come, well, it’s going to be a VERY long winter, indeed. Here’s hoping a couple more teaser trailers will hit YouTube or Vine, soon!
