It seems like only yesterday we were watching the Girls season 3 finale… wait… it was just last week! And we’re already talking about season 4? We knew the show was coming back for a fourth season but if this newsman remembers correctly this may be quickest move into production yet for Girls. Today Lena Dunham tweeted that a table read for the new season of Girls is currently taking place:

Oh Lena… so silly. Anyway we’re excited that work on the new season has already begun! Could this mean a sooner release date for season 4? We seriously doubt it. HBO’s 2014 schedule is absolutely stacked with True Blood, The Newsroom and Boardwalk Empire having their series finales this year. Not to mention the new series coming up that will be looking for a bit of lime light.
One thought is that the accelerated production schedule was made to accommodate Adam, aka Adam Driver who has been in talks to appear in the upcoming reiteration of the Star Wars Trilogy. But that’s just speculation at this point. We’ll let you know when we have a firm premiere date for Girls season 4. Until then I would mark your 2015 calendars for a January release alongside True Detective once again.
