Update: No sooner do we get you updated about the upcoming season and the trailer drops. So here it is. It looks like another great season. Shame it is the last one.

HBO has confirmed the debut date for the return of the comedy series GETTING ON, with the show set to kick off its six-episode third season SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 08 at 10:00pm right after THE LEFTOVERS. It is coupled with an encore of Season One of TOGETHERNESS at 10:30pm.

From creators Mark V. Olsen and Will Scheffer (co-creators of the acclaimed HBO series BIG LOVE), the critically-acclaimed show follows the daily lives of nurses and doctors as they struggle with the darkly comic realities of caring for the elderly in an overwhelmed healthcare system, skewering the petty bureaucracies of modern medical practice in America. Laurie Metcalf, Alex Borstein, Emmy nominee Niecy Nash and Mel Rodriguez star. But, if you are a fan of this quiet, little show than you knew all that. If you missed it you can catch up with the first two seasons on HBONow/Go.Here is a deleted scene to illustrate the tone of this poignant and funny series.

Unfortunately, a clip like that will have to serve because we have no fresh clips from the forthcoming season yet. We left the staff of the unit last season in a dire predicament. In the episode “Doctor Death” the Hospice Program of the unit was labeled a ‘death mill’ and the staff was called to a board room to face the accusations. The question lies in how they get out of the mess. Will the third season pick up with that hearing or will we suddenly be months beyond the incident with a few throwaway lines explaining its resolve? We just don’t know what Season 3 holds but some clips will surely pop up soon. Sadly, though, it is the final season of the series; we’ve known it since February. Along the way we have put up with some serious antics, riotously witty wordplay and great guest bits from the likes of June Squibb, Harry Dean Stanton, Molly Shannon, Ann Guilbert, Mary Kay Place, Daniel Stern, Jean Smart and Betty Buckley. You can be sure that the new season will not disappoint and that HBOWatch will be there to review all six episodes. We are looking forward to GETTING ON.
