The quirky, unique, often hilarious comedy Getting On will be renewed by HBO.  We’d heard rumblings that the second season was a go but we have reached out to HBO and can now confirm with %100 certainty.

Three comedies premiered for the first time last year on the Home Box Office network including Family Tree, Hello Ladies and Getting On.  Two of those three have been cancelled permanently without receiving a sophomore season.  Fans and even the show creator was fearful that HBO wouldn’t see the value proposition in continuing the series.

Two of the show’s brightest stars had this to say about the news on Twitter:

There is no solid premiere date for Getting On season 2 just yet but we assume we’ll see it around the same time we saw season one: Fall/Early Winter 2014. But we’ll update you with better information as we get it.

Laurie MetCalf, you have out done yourself woman!! You were funny in Big Bang Theory but boy have you brought in your ‘A’ game lady. You fake smile throws me off my seat. I burst out laughing so hard, my neighbors would hear me. Can’t contain myself when you’re on the screen. The cast is FUNNY, FUNNY, FUNNY. YAY! Good call HBO> good call. Bring us more seasons for Getting On. Will June Squibb be guest starring anytime in Season 2?

I must say out of the comedy experiments we had in 2013 I am glad that GETTING ON is the one that got the go ahead for a sophomore season. In my opinion this show and VEEP are the comedies to watch.
