George-RR-Martin-DVD-300x200Apparently, our favorite fantasy author just got back from England and Portugal (Lucky!) and took some time today to update his Not A Blog. Among other things, GRRM spoke a little bit about Season Three and dropped a few hints:

The TV show. I finished and delivered my script for season three of GAME OF THRONES. It’s episode 307, with the working title “Autumn Storms.” David and Dan seem to like it. Casting is in full swing for the new season, so I’m watching auditions every night. Froggy may be turning up soon, but don’t hold your breath. I’m too busy to devote much time to whipping up obscure clues.”

Looks like GRRM will write another episode for the show. This season, he wrote the script for Ep. 9: “Blackwater”, which i’m really excited for. The title for next season’s episode, “Autumn Storms”, is interesting and it has me curious as to what material it will cover.  With scripts being turned in and casting already underway, it sounds as though Season Three is coming together nicely. From what I understand, filming for the series usually takes place between July and December, so they should be on pace to continue that trend. Casting has been going on in London for the past couple of weeks and we are still waiting for confirmations. I don’t think HBO has made any official decisions for characters yet, but those should be forthcoming soon. If everything continues to run smoothly, I expect that the third season will probably premiere around April 2013.

Without getting spoilery, who would you like to see cast for Season Three? Personally, I would like to see the Reeds make an appearance (fingers crossed!).

The question is: Who will play Mance, King Beyond the Wall? I honestly think he’s the biggest character not yet cast, right?

Yup, that’s true. I have no idea who will play him though, nor can I make a prediction. HBO uses alot of fairly unknown actors, so it would be hard for me to guess who will be cast. Plus, i’m a little rusty on my European actors.

Any fans reading these comments have guesses/suggestions on who will play Mance Rayder?

Oooh, update Jacob. Was just looking around the net for possible Mance Rayder actors and I found that Mads Mikkelson’s name has been rumored. Apparently, he was rumored to play for various roles since the show started. For those who don’t know the name, he played La Ciffre in the lastest James Bond films, Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, as well as other roles on Clash of The Titans and King Arthur. Personally, I think he is a great actor and I could totally see him playing Mance Rayder, or any GoT character really. Anywyays, that’s my pick so far.

Edmure Tully and Brynden Tully. My dream casting would be David Wenham as Edmure.

I am a big fan of the Reeds, so I’m hoping both Jojen and Meera are cast, but I would be happy if they are combined into one character with the same, erm, abilities.

Victarion, Euron, and Aeron Greyjoy should also be cast.

With Myrcella shipped off to Dorne, I hope they bring the Martells into the series a bit early. I’d like to see Arianne, Trystan, Doran, and Oberyn.

“froggy” isn’t a reference to any character.

GRRM puts a “froggy” symbol on the posts where he offers fans casting clues, like this one for example – http://grrm.livejournal.com/226673.html

Haha, how embarassing! I thought he was talking about the Reeds. Shows how much I know, right? I’ll change that part and thanks for letting me know.
