In a city wrought with crime, corruption and drug-related violence a home-team Super Bowl victory brings a much-needed ray of sunshine into even the darkest depths of the criminal underworld. Drug lords like Avon Barksdale, petty police Majors like Bill Rawls and even that throat-slitting Russian guy down by the docks took a break from their normal routines to cheer for Ray Lewis and the Baltimore Ravens last night.
Win or lose it seems like everybody’s got something to say in this town. Here are just some of the character’s reactions to the Ravens victory last night:
Slim Charles was eager to get things going before the game saying:
“Don’t matter who did what to who at this point, fact is we went to war and now there ain’t no going back. I mean, shit, it’s what war is you know, once you’re innit, your innit.. If it’s a lie, then we fight on that lie, but we got to fight”
HBOWatch would like to thank all of the characters of The Wire for taking the time to comment, however brief on the Ravens Super Bowl win. We know it means everything to the citizens of Baltimore. Now get back to work! Or don’t. Not sure which one is for the best.
