In a city wrought with crime, corruption and drug-related violence a home-team Super Bowl victory brings a much-needed ray of sunshine into even the darkest depths of the criminal underworld.  Drug lords like Avon Barksdale, petty police Majors like Bill Rawls and even that throat-slitting Russian guy down by the docks took a break from their normal routines to cheer for Ray Lewis and the Baltimore Ravens last night.

Win or lose it seems like everybody’s got something to say in this town.  Here are just some of the character’s reactions to the Ravens victory last night:

Slim Charles was eager to get things going before the game saying: slim-charles

Don’t matter who did what to who at this point, fact is we went to war and now there ain’t no going back. I mean, shit,  it’s what war is you know, once you’re innit, your innit.. If it’s a lie, then we fight on that lie, but we got to fight

Just before the kickoff Omar had this to say: omar

I’ll do what I can to help y’all. But, the game’s out there, and it’s play or get played. That simple.

As the lights went out in the 3rd quarter detective Jimmy McNulty seemed a bit guilty screeching mcnulty

What the fuck did I do?

after drawing glares from his fellow officers who just knew he had something to do with the epic fuck-up.

Det. Ellis Carver questioned the Ravens second half showing opining: seth_gilliam

“They fuck up, they get beat. We fuck up, they give us the Lombardi Trophy.

Bubbles took a more existential look at the big win adding: bubbles

[There’s a] Thin line between heaven and here.

State Sen. R. Clayton ‘Clay’ Davis summed up the feelings of the Maryland governing class with a long and healthy: sheeeit

Sheeeeeeeiiiit.”

How did this all happen, Omar?  omar

All in the game yo, all in the game.

Losing multiple side-bets to fellow officer McNulty to the tune of $125 Det. William Moreland exclaimed: bunk

Happy now, bitch?

HBOWatch would like to thank all of the characters of The Wire for taking the time to comment, however brief on the Ravens Super Bowl win.  We know it means everything to the citizens of Baltimore.  Now get back to work!  Or don’t.  Not sure which one is for the best.
