True Blood Season 7 Series Finale: Thank You

True Blood Season 7 Series Finale: Thank You

Dear friends, readers, Truebies, haters, etc., welcome to the final review of the series finale of “True Blood.” We are honored to have you here. Through some special HBO Watch magic, we  - Rhiannon Kavity, Tamara “The Taminator” Winfrey, MJ Snow, and me, VL Vanderveer – were able to, as a group, give you our honest opinions of all that went down last night in Bon Temps. Are you ready? Let the magic begin. When “True Blood” first came on television in 2008, it was something very, very different than anyone had seen before. Around this time, Stephenie Meyer was just publishing Twilight, a four...

True Blood Series Finale Extends 10 Minutes

True Blood Series Finale Extends 10 Minutes

Losing something you love always sucks.  True Blood has had a long run on HBO with seven seasons and 80 episodes of your favorite vampires, werewolves, faries and.. yeah, lots of other weird creatures. Tonight in the background of the 2014 Emmy Awards True Blood is airing its final episode at 9PM EST/PST. But we’ve just learned that the final episode will also be 10 minutes longer than usual clocking in at 65 minutes. The HBO Schedule confirms as much: Note that this pushes back The Leftovers so make sure your DVR is smart enough to figure that out if you’re watching both. Here’s the description of the episode if...

True Blood Season 7: Love Is To Die

True Blood Season 7: Love Is To Die

Well Truebies, we’ve made it through 79 episodes of our vampire/fairy/werewolf/shifter/Maenad/insert supernatural creature here show. That’s 79 episodes of Sookie, Bill, Lafayette, Arlene, and Jason. I’m sure there are a few others who have been around but I don’t remember them appearing in every episode (sorry Eric and Pam!). The beginning of this season had hope and a bit of redemption; by now, it’s so muddled that apparently people only breathe long enough to curse and then talk in fake southern accents (us real Southerners know). So last week, we said goodbye to Tara and went on an insane head trip that,...

True Blood Season 7: Almost Home

True Blood Season 7: Almost Home

Expletives will be shouted from the mountain tops in frustration at some of the stupider highlights from this past Sunday’s episode of True Blood. There’s your warning. So let me just start by saying it’s a fucking miracle that these people remember to breathe. Eric’s captured Sarah Newlin. Jason has yet another notch to add to his bedpost of dead girlfriends. Sam and Arlene just kind of exist at this point (was it ever established that he’s mayor again, or did that title just kinda drop off him when the town went crazy and then the townspeople died? Also, who’s still alive in that town?) Sookie looked for...

True Blood Season 7: May Be The Last Time

True Blood Season 7: May Be The Last Time

This episode felt more like it was checking in with characters than it did moving things forward, but if you got up to go to the bathroom, you might have missed something. The segments were that short. Take a quick run through the episode with us, and keep your Hep-V antidote handy! Flashbacks The audience at my headquarters emitted a collective groan as we traveled back to those thrilling days of yesteryear when everything was brown and… nothing was happening. I will say that the show did an excellent job taking years off of Stephen Moyer, 44, to make him look like a young twenty-something man in the American antebellum south. There...

True Blood: An Inside look at Comic-Con 2014

True Blood: An Inside look at Comic-Con 2014

There was definitely a bittersweet feeling when looking at the stream of incoming Comic-Con pictures and tidbits.  Most diehard fans find themselves anxiously counting down the days until the famous San Diego event, which always seems to provide exciting news about all our favorite shows. Despite this being the last year the True Blood gang will attend representing the widely viewed HBO show, they approached their panel with the same excitement as their very first year. The panel took place yesterday, July 26th at 5pm PST/ 8pm EST time. and definitely didn’t disappoint. The star-studded panel was one of the best we’ve seen yet and...

True Blood Season 7: Lost Cause

True Blood Season 7: Lost Cause

“We have bigger problems than your mommy and your daddy issues.” One of the things I wanted the show to return to during the final season was the focus on vampires and the culture they’ve created for themselves. The maker/ progeny relationship has always been one that I’ve enjoyed watching. Some of the best relationships on the show are created from that. This episode starting off with an argument between Eric and his two progenies, both of whom couldn’t be more different, was a definite highlight for me. Eric’s character takes a new dynamic during his scenes with Pam, and now Willa, and I’m glad that they’re putting a focus...

HBO at San Diego Comic-Con 2014

SDCC 2014 is fast approaching, and runs this year from July 24th – 27th. HBO issued a press release detailing which of their associated shows will be presenting panels. HBO’s Game of Thrones and True Blood, and Cinemax’s Banshee will all present separate panels over the four days. Here’s all the information you need: The HBO series TRUE BLOOD and GAME OF THRONES and the CINEMAX series BANSHEE are confirmed for panels and autograph sessions at Comic-Con International: San Diego 2014. Below is panel information on the three series. Expect live coverage of all HBO and CINEMAX Comic-Con activities at HBO Connect...

True Blood Season 7: Death Is Not the End

True Blood Season 7: Death Is Not the End

I don’t understand how some of True Blood got to where it is. Does anyone know exactly how Holly escaped, or why they took her out hunting in the first place? There’s other stuff that doesn’t make sense either. Take Alcide’s death, for example. Senseless, stupid, no logic or justice. Then there’s Maxine Fortenberry– that was a death only slightly less completely satisfying than Russell Edgington and took FAR too long. Now we’re wasting valuable screen time notifying relatives who were Never In This Show. I guess we’re going to have The Return of Hoyt and Grandpa Terminator for the final big...

Luke Grimes Refuses to Come Out of the Closet on True Blood

Luke Grimes Refuses to Come Out of the Closet on True Blood

True Blood is a show known for its controversial scenes, particularly in regards to sex. Being on a platform like HBO, this show is able to take risks in regards to sex and violence, as well as more progressive issues such as gay rights. Open sexuality has been apparent in the show from the beginning by featuring an openly gay character, Lafayette, and the sexual choices of vampires in bedding who they so desire, regardless of gender. One cast member allegedly couldn’t handle the sexual turn his character took, and chose to leave the show. I’m referring to Luke Grimes, who departed fairly quickly after only seven episodes on the...

True Blood Season 7: “Fire in the Hole”

True Blood Season 7: “Fire in the Hole”

Is it just me, or is Season 7 of True Blood just really bad? I know that I probably said the same about Season 6 and several other Seasons as well, but the show that has been silly for years, just feels pointless in its final season. Call me an eternal optimist, but I had been holding onto really high hopes that somehow, they would pull it out for the fans in Season 7. That’s not to say there haven’t been some good moments, but they seem so few and far between. For a look at both the good and the bad things, read on. There will be spoilers, obviously, so if you haven’t watched “Fire in the Hole” yet,...

TRUE BLOOD: The Musical

TRUE BLOOD: The Musical

You read that correctly folks. It seems the show’s music composer Nathan Barr (pictured) has been tinkering with the idea of converting TRUE BLOOD in to a musical stage show after HBO puts a final nail in the coffin of the series. Barr, who has written the instrumental scores for the entire seven seasons of the show, let out a bit of information at a premiere event for the final season. He stated – “This was something that I pitched to HBO and Alan Ball.” -      “The musical would revolve around protagonist, telepath and waitress Sookie Stackhouse.”   -       “I think we’re really going to try to return to...
