Derek Jeter to be Subject of HBO Documentary

Derek Jeter, longtime captain of the New York Yankees will be the subject of a forthcoming HBO documentary.  One of MLB’s all-time hitting leaders, Jeter is poised to stroke his 3000th hit this year, a feat only a handful of other baseball greats have accomplished. HBO to air Elton John Documentary

HBO Documentary Films has acquired the domestic TV rights to The Union from Vinyl Films, it was announced today. Directed by Cameron Crowe (“Almost Famous,” “Jerry Maguire”), the film will debut on HBO in Jan. 2012. The Union takes an unprecedented look at the creative life of Elton John and his remarkable collaborative album with his early-career idol, Leon Russell, produced by award-winning music producer T Bone Burnett. Filming Begins on HBO Lady Gaga Special

Lady Gaga was spotted in her hometown of NYC today along with a gaggle of HBO camera crewmembers.   Celebrity-Gossip reports that the “songstress looked snazzy in a skimpy black ensemble as she strolled around Manhattan along with a documentary film crew.” Looks like filming has already begun on her much-anticipated HBO special. HBO picks up rights to James Marsh’s ‘Project Nim’

Even before the film actually premiered at Sundance Film Festival this year HBO moved to acquire all rights to Oscar Award Winning Director James Marsh’s new ‘Project Nim’.   The rights included in the deal include theatrical, video and TV broadcast.   His previous work with ‘Man on Wire’ won him the Academy Award last year.
