Farewell Kenny Powers!

Farewell Kenny Powers!

Well, it’s all over folks, Kenny Powers is finished and what a journey it has been. The final episode even had me choke up a bit at the end, as he confidently places the baseball down on the table and walks out of the room, leaving his finished screenplay and his fame behind him. It was a jam packed episode and Kenny managed to right all of his wrong doings. He apologised to April and asked her to wait a week until she made up mind, finally about whether or not to divorce him and he apologised to his crew for being an asshole during the Christmas Special of Sports Sesh. However, there’s a new ego on the scene, the lispy, arrogant,...

Eastbound and Down Season 4, Episodes 6 & 7

Oh Kenny, Kenny Kenny Kenny. What is going on?! Following on episode five, where Kenny didn’t turn up to the therapy session with April because he had a much more important date with a jet pack, April calls quits on their marriage. Kenny attempts to salvage something with a ‘Hey April, look how great your life is’ party which doesn’t go down well as its just another excuse for Kenny to show off how much money he has. He ultimately conquers Guy Young as while off stage Guy slams his audience, calling them names and generally being quite racist while his microphone was on resulting in an onslaught of boo-ing and yelling when he makes...

Eastbound and Down Season 4, Episode 5

Eastbound and Down Season 4, Episode 5

So I’m reaching that point where I am curious as to where Kenny’s story is going, seeing there are only three episodes left until the ultimate end of Eastbound and Down I am wondering when the story will stop developing and start coming to a close. Episode five starts with Kenny reigning as the King of his Castle, hosting an extravagant pool party complete with security guards. Kenny is rich, we get that. He is literally throwing money around, buying all the luxuries he has been longing to buy for years. Good for him right? He’s earned it, he’s been through some shit and now he is a valued member of the Sports Sesh panel, with his...

Eastbound and Down Season 4, Episode 4

Eastbound and Down Season 4, Episode 4

After last week’s bizarre excursion to the water park, I was hoping this week would have a bit more focus and direction. I wasn’t particularly keen on the events that occurred that night, I didn’t like the characters of Jessie and Jason, I didn’t like the back and forth exchanges between Kenny and Jessie and to be honest, it wasn’t very funny, it was kind of boring and I was glad when it was over. The latest chapter sees Kenny backing away from the self destruct button and revelling in his new found fame and glory as a recurring member of the Sports Sesh team. However, with the events of the waterpark echoing in his mind, he needs...

Eastbound and Down S4 Episode 3

Eastbound and Down S4 Episode 3

The end of episode two saw Kenny riding high on the waves of applause from his triumph on Sports Sesh. Guy Young offered Kenny a regular spot on the show and episode three begins as he rejoices with April and Stevie on the way back to the car. The tone of episode three shifts quite dramatically as Kenny readjusts to his second chance at fame. Stevie pathetically continues to whinge about his small dick not being able to get hard (a recurring joke that is beginning to try my patience) so Kenny decides to treat his family, Stevie’s family and the family of their boring friends to a weekend at a waterpark, telling them that a perk of his job...

Eastbound and Down: Season 4, Episode 2

Eastbound and Down: Season 4, Episode 2

Episode 2 of season 4 has been my absolute favorite since season one and it all boils down to one man. Stevie Janowski. At the end of episode one, we saw Kenny triumphantly neck copious amounts of drugs and declare his return to baseball. Thank God, the boring slave to the wage Kenny Powers is now well and truly deceased. Episode 2 opens with Stevie doing a food shop with his four Mexican children who are horrendously out of control and literally every parent’s worst nightmare. He argues with them, they tell him to fuck off while knocking over cans and throwing bags of crisps all over the store. Kenny and Stevie’s relationship appears...

Welcome Back, Kenny! Season 4, Ep. 1 Review

Welcome Back, Kenny! Season 4, Ep. 1 Review

After a very explosive finale to season three, Kenny Powers slowly rolled back onto our screens suited and booted driving a very non-descript Camry. A few years have passed since we last saw our hero and in that time, he’s ditched the drugs, the baseball and the bleach blonde locks and traded it all in for a family. The episode begins with a quick recap, where Kenny crashes his own funeral, gets punched in the face by Dustin (John Hawkes), goes to jail for a bit, comes out, marries April (Katy Mixon) and they have their second child, a girl. The ‘new’ Kenny works for a car rental company and April is pursuing her real estate career...
