Cinemax’s QUARRY Cancelled After One Season

Cinemax’s QUARRY Cancelled After One Season

I don’t know if you watched Season One of QUARRY on Cinemax, but it will be your last one. Series co-creator Michael D. Fuller made a rather lengthy announcement explaining the kibosh. Here it a good portion of it: “And so, after a protracted and agonizing process, we have final confirmation that Quarry will not be returning to television. There were several factors that contributed to the show’s ultimate fate, but a regime change at HBO and a re-(re?)-branding at Cinemax were of particular significance; we attempted to find another home for the show but were unable to do so. By virtually every metric (ratings, critical response) the...

THE KNICK Finally Officially Cancelled

THE KNICK Finally Officially Cancelled

It took Cinemax long enough to make the official call, and we knew it was, unfortunately, true anyway, but it has finally declared THE KNICK dead on the table. What, its last episodes were in December of 2015?  In a statement the president of HBO Miniseries and Cinemax Programming, Kary Antholis stated that –  “After a critically acclaimed two-season run of The Knick on Cinemax, we will not be going forward with additional episodes of the series. Despite our pride in and affection for the series, as well as our respect for and gratitude towards Steven Soderbergh and his team, we have decided to return Cinemax to its original...

Cinemax Gets Mike Judge’s Return to Animation

Do any of you remember “heh-heh” Beavis and Butthead? Perhaps you recall Hank Hill and his Arles, Texas brood in King of the Hills? Mike Judge, long before his stint as co-creator of HBO’s SILICON VALLEY, generated these mentioned animated works for MTV and Fox, respectively. Well, he now returns to animation with a signed on series for Cinemax. Not many details are known about the work, but enough to perhaps pique some interest. The work is entitled MIKE JUDGE PRESENTS: TALES FROM THE TOUR BUS and is slated for an eight-episode run (at least to start). It is said it will draw from the many stories told upon the old tour buses of some...
