BOARDWALK EMPIRE: Inside The Final Season and Episode One

By Jef Dinsmore on Sep 13, 2014 to Boardwalk Empire, Boardwalk Empire Trailers

BWE_FinaleLogoWell, BOARDWALK EMPIRE has entered its final season. It has jumped into time to the start of The Great Depression and we are awaiting the end game. Who survives? How do life and the business for Nucky, Capone and the like change and adapt?  Clearly if you know some history you know some answers, but how is BOARDWALK EMPIRE going to play it out? It shall be interesting to find out and HBOWatch likes to take a part in helping us all along in the journey.

This writer is surprised that this following video clip didn’t get some play onsite already, but I couldn’t find it. So here is an “Invitation to The Set” piece that helps set up the fifth and final season. In it Terence Winter (creator, producer) takes us quickly through the history and some of the characters of the series accompanied by shots from in front and behind the camera.

The production Cast and Crew celebrated the launch of the new season properly with plenty of bubbly to go around. HBO chronicled the event with one of its Buzz pieces that we share next.

We have one more video to share. Now, remember we already have an episode under our belt when the Season Premiere “Golden Days for Boys and Girls” debuted on 09.07. Out shortly after Episode One aired was an “Inside the Episode” piece. We do not know if each episode will provide this bonus clip, but if they do we will attach them to each episode review going forward. Howard Korder (producer, writer) lends his viewpoint to the piece.  Here is “Inside the Episode #1.”

So with that information and the first episode behind us we look forward now to the concluding season of BOARDWALK EMPIRE. Be on the lookout for episode reviews and other interesting posts about the show over the next several weeks right here on HBOWatch.

I know all good things must come to an end, but I was really hoping (like the hundreds of thousands of fans out there) that there would have been at least 6 seasons. There is more than enough historical material that could have been successfully written into the show. However, I guess it’s better to go out when you’re on top and perhaps the actors and actresses on the show also had other projects on the go and wanted to do other things.
