What’s On: HBO Schedule For September 2016

September is that time of year when all the channels, especially the broadcast ones, rush out their brightest and best with new episodes and new series. HBO plays a slightly different game. It doesn’t seem to go too hard in September to compete with the new launches, but holds back a bit and comes in hard a little later on in the year. That does not mean there is not something worth watching in the ninth month on our favorite home box office. The premiere movies, for example, are pretty darn good all month long. Below are some highlights of what is on for September 2016.     Original Series: There are two series debuts this month,...

HBO Documentary Films: HITCHCOCK/TRUFFAUT

HBO Documentary Films: HITCHCOCK/TRUFFAUT

Overview: In 1962, French New Wave auteur François Truffaut, aided by translator Helen Scott, spent a week in Hollywood with his idol, Alfred Hitchcock, discussing the director’s rich and extensive body of work, including Psycho and Vertigo. The resulting 1966 book of interviews, Hitchcock, became a celebrated bible of cinema for generations of filmmakers. The film offers an eye-opening study of Hitchcock’s enduring genius and legacy, as the two men...

New Movies on HBO: Point Break

HBOWatch Editors were not able to line-up a writer to review POINT BREAK, but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to draw your attention to the PG-13 rated drama playing on HBO. The movie premiered on Saturday, 08.20 at 8:00pm and is still airing across the channels as well as on HBOGo/HBONow. Though POINT BREAK might be appearing on the network for the first time on the network it is actually a remake of an older movie. In 1991 the R- rated version launched under the direction of Kathryn Bigelow. It starred Keanu Reeves, Patrick Swayze and Gary Busey. The 2015 version is made with a different director and cast. More about them in a bit,...
