Silicon Valley: “Bachman’s Earning’s Over-Ride”

Silicon Valley: “Bachman’s Earning’s Over-Ride”

Pied Piper is LIVE! Not only that, but it’s become hugely successful. We start off the episode with a Bloomberg interview of Erlich Bachman (henceforth known as Erlich Blachman according to the White Pages and Google) and Richard Hendricks. At first glance, it seems odd that Erlich is trying to steal the spotlight, especially since we know that he sold his 10% of the company. Why would he want to draw attention to himself? The only reason I could think of was Meinertzhagen’s Haversack. I guess it worked because nobody suspects that he technically has nothing to do with the company anymore. It seems to be working because it’s...

Game of Thrones: “The Broken Man”

Game of Thrones: “The Broken Man”

Check out last week’s review here. It has been a season of fast-paced story lines (including characters teleporting between regions in a single episode) and returning characters. Bran, Rickon, and Benjen are just a few of the characters that have returned to Game of Thrones after no screen time for one season or more. This season has already had a different feel from the previous five seasons. “The Broken Man” kicks off with a scene before the opening credits. This caught me by surprise and I had to rewind a bit because it felt like I missed something. Game of Thrones has only ever done this on season premieres. A septon and his...

Silicon Valley: “Maleant Data Systems Solutions”

Silicon Valley: “Maleant Data Systems Solutions”

Check out the review for last weeks episode here! When we last left our heroes of Pied Piper, their secret Skunkworks plan failed before it even got started. When Jack called the four into his office, I was fully expecting the hammer to crash down on their heads. It started that way, but as if by some miracle, Richard found his testicles that his doctor checked for earlier in the season. He explained that if order for Jack to get what he wants, he can’t fire Richard and his team. It may have been the first time he stood up for his project that resulted in it actually sticking. Even more surprising is that throughout the episode, he...

Girls: “Queen for Two Days”

Girls: “Queen for Two Days”

“I’m about to make some big choices” Hannah’s mother said. It sets the tone for this episode because not only is she trying to figure out how her life will look like now that she knows her husband is gay, but Shoshanna, Jessa and Hannah face some big choices. Hannah and her mother Hannah, from the moment the episode starts, is cynical about her mother’s idea to go to a woman’s retreat called “Spring Queening”. I’m not sure why she so easily rejects the place and the people in it. Maybe it’s her way of rejecting the idea that her parents aren’t people that she thought they were as she grew up. Perhaps...

Silicon Valley: “White Hat/Black Hat”

Silicon Valley: “White Hat/Black Hat”

This episode starts from where the previous episode left. The Pied Piper team return triumphantly from their meeting with Intersite. Things are looking up for Pied Piper. They’re bound for success this time! Yeah… right. The team’s emotional high is quickly extinguished when they see Russ Hanneman’s car (the one with the doors that open out that he reluctantly drives because he lost his third comma) in the driveway. Richard clearly expects that Russ is going to be an investor completely angry with fact that Richard broke the deal that was set up. Of course, the opposite is true and he breaks out a bottle of tequila...
