HBOWatch Gift Giving Guide

HBOWatch Gift Giving Guide

Christmas is Coming, or should we say that the hectic, stressful season of gift shopping has descended upon us and with it, all those hours of trying to decide which gift to give to whom and how much money to spend. Well, how about taking the easy route and ditching the actual process of going to the mall and waiting in line, or circling around the parking lot for a good spot and sit in the comfort of your own home to do online shopping.  Now, being a big fan of HBO and knowing many of other people that are too, what to give the Game of Thrones, The Leftovers or Ballers fan? Lots of selection out there – there are Funko Pop Figures;...

Movie Review: My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2

Movie Review: My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2

For those of you that watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding back in 2003, it was a surprise blockbuster hit. Many people in the audience could identify with the quirky and eclectic family norms presented. I know I definitely could relate to some of the loud, crazy antics on screen with my European heritage. In the sequel, we find our protagonists, Ian and Toula, surrounded by the same loud and rambunctious family, although some details have changed.  Now thirteen years later comes My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2. Ian (John Corbett) and Toula (Nia Vardalos) have been married for almost twenty years. They have one daughter, Paris (Elena Kampouris),...

Movie Review: Race

Movie Review: Race

An athlete with the ability to streak down the track. Racial tensions that run high. A coach who sees more than just color, he sees talent. It is the world on the precipice of change. An economy on the brink of disaster. Jesse Owens not only made his mark in history as one of the greatest track and field stars, he was a humble man who worked hard and tried to make his way through life the smart way – not by fighting, but by using wit and intellect to get ahead. It couldn’t have been easy back in the 1930’s  when racial inequality ran rampant, and an African American man had to work twice as hard to prove himself, no...

Movie Review: Gods of Egypt

Movie Review: Gods of Egypt

Lots of fancy looking folks are strutting their stuff in this movie. Kind of odd, though; usually when one thinks of a movie that has to do with Egyptians, you think of olive skinned or tall, dark and handsome people with exotic accents and breathtaking locales. That’s why it was a bit tough for me to sit through a movie that showcased a lot of white people portraying ancient Gods and Goddesses. The costumes are splashy and the sets are extravagant, to say the least. In terms of plot, you have the age old brother versus brother (good versus evil) plight. Of course, one brother rules over mortals and Gods, while the other one rules over...

Insecure: Series Premiere & Episode 2

Insecure: Series Premiere & Episode 2

Insecure Series Premiere: “Insecure as F***” Issa’s (Issa Rae) life is tumultuous, to say the least. From problems on the job, to problems with her live in boyfriend and her stressed out best friend, no matter where she turns, insecurity seems to get the best of her. From the opening scene where she’s attempting to address a class of intermediate students to explain what she does for a living (she works in the non profit job that tries to improve the circumstances of inner city youth) to where she’s speaking to her best friend Molly, we see that Issa is struggling with confidence. She is struggling with her job, her...
