alan-ball-Adacemy-Award-HBO-True-Blood-209x300Though HBO has not officially announced a sixth season of True Blood, if season 5 continues the trend of around 5 million viewers per episode, it’s hard to imagine the network canceling it any time soon.

Alan Ball has been the day-to-day ‘show runner’ of HBO’s hit Vampire series for each of it’s four season and is currently putting the finishing touches on this summer’s fifth installment.  “The plan for a potential Season 6 of True Blood was always that Alan would take a supervisory role on the series and not be the day-to-day show runner.”  The network said:  “If we proceed to season six, the show will remain in the very capable hands of the talented team of writers and producers who have been with the show for a number of years.”

Mr Ball will continue to produce programs for both HBO and Cinemax.  We look forward to seeing what the Academy Award winning writer of American Beauty has to offer the Premium Cable network!  Leave us a comment below (or a goodbye message for Alan) with your thoughts on this development.
