emmystatuette-231x300Last Monday, the full 2012 Primetime Emmy submission ballots were posted on the Academy’s website. While the prestigious award show won’t be broadcast until September, it’s not too early to start some discussion. HBO usually does quite well at the Emmy’s and it looks as though they have a strong line-up of contenders. Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, and True Blood all have some very strong suggestions; as well as some smaller ones that could possibly be an easy win. Newcomers Girls and Veep have also received various submissions as well. Notable shows that I didn’t include on my list are Luck, Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Eastbound and Down. Also, two HBO films, Game Change and Hemingway & Gellhorn, are also found frequently throughout the ballots. Keep in mind that these are merely suggestions that Academy members will vote on. The actual nominations will be announced on July 19.

Author’s Note: Due to the overwhelming number of HBO shows on the ballots, I only included the ones that we regularly cover here at HBOWatch. Additionally, only the bigger awards are listed. However, anyone can browse through the suggestions by visiting the Academy for Television Arts & Sciences website. Leave us a comment at the bottom and tell  us your thoughts on this list. Is there anyone/anything that you desperately want to be nominated? Let’s us know that too.

Upcoming Dates:

June 11 Nominating ballots were posted on the Television Academy’s website

June 28 – Deadline for returning the nominating ballots

July 19 – Nominations are announced live from the Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in Hollywood, CA

September 23 – ABC telecast of the 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards
